I’m back! I’m sorry I’ve been away for so long. This spring was very busy! Today I wanted to share with you some pictures from a mission trip I went on. Every May, I travel with my church to Damascus, Virginia to help run the ministry activities at Damascus Trail Days. Damascus Trail Days is a huge event where the thru hikers on the Appalachian Trail come into the town and celebrate hiking. The ministry I’m a part of provides free food, haircuts, medical attention, vet visits (for trail dogs, and a lot of other stuff. It’s a lot of fun! If you are a hiking fan or just enjoy a good mountain festival, I encourage you to check it out. Damascus Trail Days is always the weekend after Mother’s Day. It usually runs Friday and Saturday but there are some events Thursday and Sunday.
Where is time going? I go to post and I realize it’s been days since I posted! I can’t really keep to a schedule but I will try to post more. Anyway, on to why I’m posting. After work yesterday, S and I went to Barnes and Noble to find some more books. I found a classic paperback display that was offering books for sale for buy two get one free. All the books were under eight dollars. I was ecstatic. Of course I’ve read all of these books but I love to go back and reread old classic favorites. The books I chose were “O Pioneers”, “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking Glass” (two books in one!), and “Little Women.” S and I also picked up a copy of “The Unofficial Guide Walt Disney World 2016” to help aid in our trip planning for January. I’m excited to start reading and I just love the illustrations on the covers of the paperbacks.
I am so excited! I love Disney! I have only been to Walt Disney World once when I was four in 1997. It was the 25th anniversary celebration and I remember the castle being pink. I can’t wait to go back in January and see how much the park has changed and what has stayed the same! Eeeeek! For your enjoyment, here are a few pictures from my November 1997 trip.
