Staying Cool During The Heatwave

Summer is hot enough and now Virginia is going through a major heat wave. I’m talking heat indexes of 110. It’s hot and I’m more of a cold weather person so I’m always looking for ways to cool off during the summer.

  • Go swimming at the local pool or the beach.
  • Make homemade lemonade.
  • Set up a sprinkler and run through it.
  • Take your pet outside and give them a bath (Just make sure the water coming from the hose isn’t too hot, as it can get in the summer).
  • Pay a visit to a local ice cream shop such as Tastee Freeze or Dairy Queen.
  • If you are looking for something fun to do, go to a movie theater or museum where you know there will be air conditioning.
  • Do nothing. Some days it is just too hot to do anything. I just lounge on the couch with a glass of ice water and watch tv.

What are some ways that you stay cool during summer heatwaves?

Inspiration Board 17: Minnie Mouse

Good morning! I decided to post a Minnie Mouse themed inspiration board today! I love all things Disney and as some of y’all know, I’m planning a Disney vacation! I won’t be going until January so when I’m not planning, I like to read Disney blogs and chat with other Disney fans. I think I will do other Disney themed boards over the next few months so if you have a favorite Disney movie or character, comment below. I’d love to hear from you!

Friday Favorites

img_4725 Happy Friday! Today, I am linking up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci to share my favorite things from this past week.

  1. I posted on Wednesday that I got to help out at an exotic animal farm. It was so much fun and I made friends with a four day old Jerusalem donkey. Check out my post with pictures here!
  2. My cat, Esther turned seven last week. I can’t believe my little baby girl is seven! My mom and I found her abandoned in a grocery store parking lot when I was sixteen. Her eyes weren’t even open yet. Esther is my companion and best friend. I hope I get to spend many more years with such a sweet little cat.
  3. I finally quit my job. I just couldn’t stand it anymore. I didn’t want to be a part of the unethical activities that were going on. Even though I am now in search of another job, I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I feel like my job situation contributed to my depression and anxiety. Hopefully I can find better employment soon. I’ve been enjoying relaxing and doing things that I would be able to do if I still worked there so that’s why I am adding this to my list.
  4. Another favorite thing of mine is watching my ducks! Now that I’m not stuck working twelve hour shifts, I get to help my mom transfer the ducks to their day paddock. We fill up three baby pools and the ducks are so fun to watch. They swim and splash around and are so happy.
  5. Another fun thing I did this was was make a list of things I’d like to do when I go to Disney. We are having another trip planning meeting this Sunday and K asked us to make our own lists so we can collaborate. It makes me so excited. Only five more months left! I love having something to look forward to.

What are your favorite things from this past week? I’d love to hear from you and the ladies the co-host the link up would be so happy if you joined in. Just click on one of the names above and add your own post. Have a great weekend!

Morning Chores at an Exotic Animal Farm

I got to spend the morning helping out at an exotic animal farm. It was a lot of fun and I got to make friends with a four day old Jerusalem donkey. There are tons of animals there. I got to take care of everything from Zebras, to goats, to emus, to ducks! I totally felt at home here and hope to be invited back again to help with morning chores.

If you could own a farm animal or an exotic animal, what would it be?

Inspiration Board 16: Beach Days

Hello my lovely readers! It’s been awhile! Things have been crazy but I’ve been trying to relax the last few weeks. I’ve been going through a lifestyle transition so I haven’t been able to post much. I am ready to start posting again though! I thought it would be perfect to start off with an inspiration board with beach vibes. I live thirty minutes from Virginia Beach and about an hour and a half from the Outer Banks of North Carolina so I was totally raised as a saltwater girl. When I wasn’t riding horses, you could probably find me helping my dad work on the boat (sadly Hurricane Isabel in 2004 destroyed our sail boat) or lounging in the sand at the Ocean Front or in Kitty Hawk. Do you enjoy going to the beach? What beaches do you like to visit?
