How to Feel Better When you are Sick

I am sick. Luckily I have today off and I knew I was getting sick. Several friends have been sick and I’ve been around them to help take care of them so I knew it was coming. Here is what I am doing today to make myself feel better:
  • Drinking lots of fluids- No matter what kind of illness you have, you should drink a lot! I currently have a glass of water and a mug of tea in front of me. Don’t gulp down a lot of water at once. Take frequent small sips over time. Just make sure you don’t get dehydrated.
  • Eat crackers- You don’t want to eat anything too heavy so saltines are good. Eat slowly and wait 15 minutes before you eat more to see if you can hold the food down.
  • Heating pad- Heating pads are wonderful! I use them for back pain, stomach aches, headaches, or when I’m cold and need to warm up.
  • Sleep- Make sure you get enough sleep. You will feel better and be able to fight off  any germs faster.
  • Lysol- Spray Lysol around so you don’t reinfect yourself or get other house members sick.

I rarely go to the doctor unless I have been sick a long time or had to call out of work. What do you do to get better when you get sick?

Ideas for Galentine’s Day

I have a boyfriend but I’ve spent many Valentine’s Day single so I know what it’s like to see all those couples being sappy and being spoiled with flowers and chocolate hearts. It used to bother me at least in high school. When I graduated high school, I liked Valentine’s Day a little better. I started treating myself on that day. Here are some ways you can turn Valentine’s Day into Galentine’s Day!

  • Have a me day! Take the day off and spend time by yourself. Pamper yourself and don’t worry about making plans with others or going out anywhere.
  • Pamper yourself! Treat yourself to a spa evening. Take a bubble bath, paint your nails, put on a mask, light a candle…
  • Have a girls night in! Invite some of your other single friends over and have a night in. Find a fun chick flick, cook dinner together (or order takeout), and enjoy an evening of laughter and fun.
  • Go to a movie! There are several great movies playing right now. Spend an evening checking out the latest movies.
  • Remember that Valentine’s Day is not just about couples! Valentine’s Day is about love so show some love to your friends and family. You don’t have to have a guy in your life to enjoy Valentine’s Day.

However you choose to celebrate Valentine’s Day, make sure to take some time for yourself. Self love and care is very important and should take priority over any guy!

Comment below how you celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Oh Hey Friday!

This week wasn’t too exciting. Just worked a bit, went to Bible Study, and got started on purging my closet.
1. This is my hound dog Bella. She normally sleeps on the floor at the foot of my bed but I made her sleep on the bed last night. She wasn’t sure what to think about it at first so she stared at me with this face for a bit.
3. It’s supposed to snow again today! I have to work and I know they won’t close for the snow. We could have a category five hurricane and we would still be open.
4. Does anyone use Disqus? I set it up on my blog because a lot of bloggers say you should but I’m always having to re-synce the comments and getting error emails. I also can’t change the color on my the Disqus comments section on my blog posts and colors are too light and don’t go with my blog. Help!
5. Here is a picture of my best friend. This was actually taken over a year ago at her twenty first birthday party but I really like the picture!

Have a happy Friday!

How I Fight My Acne

I’m like any normal twenty something. My skin isn’t perfect and the week before my period, I get a few spots on my face. This time around, it was pretty bad but I manage my acne well. Here is what I do to treat my breakouts.

  • I wash my face with Noxema. I have been using it for years. My mom bought me a jar of Noxema when I was in middle school and first started having breakouts. I wet my face with warm water, rub on some Noxema, let it sit for thirty seconds, and then rinse it off.
  • Next, I take a cotton swab with peroxide and wipe my face, especially my nose and my chin, where I am prone to breakouts.
  • Third, I dab tea tree oil on my acne. I helps dry up the acne and usually the spots fade within a few hours.
  • If my spots are really bad, I dab a bit of Neosporin on them. I don’t do this all the time but it really helps like today. I had a really bad cystic pimple in the corner of my mouth and it’s already gone down thanks to the Neosporin!
  • I do not use any over the counter acne medicine. I find it irritates my skin and makes my acne worse. It seems to prolong the breakouts. I’m not sure why it does that to me.
  • Finally, I dab some lotion onto my face. I like to use Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair. I never put scented lotion on my face. I reserve my Bath and Body Works lotions for just my hands!

I find that following all of the steps above helps keep my skin fairly clear. Of course, I get the monthly breakout but it’s usually not too bad and it has certainly gotten better since high school! What are your favorite acne treating products?
