June 2015 Beauty Favorites

I can’t believe it’s almost July! 2015 is going by so fast! I’m not a beauty blogger but I enjoy reading monthly beauty favorite lists so I thought I would share my favorites.

The first thing I am enjoying is the Endless Weekend scent line by Bath & Body works. I used to use the Country Chic scent but they discontinued it (sad face). I went to my local store and one of the associates helped me find a new scent. I just love the light, fresh, summery scent and the designs on the containers (I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover but there is scientific proof that people are more likely to buy something that looks nice even if looks don’t hinder its function.). I’m not sure if I will wear it during the fall and winter but this will be perfect for the hotter months!

Recently, I’ve been having hair issues. I have very thick hair and living in a humid climate, it gets super frizzy! I needed to find new hair products so I tried Herbal Essences Smooth Collection. I just tried the shampoo and conditioner but my hair looks better already! I’m not walking around with poofy hair all summer for once.

Next, I have a new favorite deodorant. I only bought it because it was on sale at the place I work and I could get a bunch of rewards points towards money off. I really enjoyed it. Sweet Simplicity by Ban is the perfect sweet scent and actually stays on during these yucky 100 degree summer days.

Finally, I recently switched to Maybelline New York Fit Me! foundation. I was using Almay Smart Shade but it kept melting off in the summer heat. The Fit Me! line does not melt off and also disguises my huge pores without looking cakey. I will be using this makeup for the remainder of the summer!

What are your beauty favorites? If you made a post about them, link it below.

Oh Hey Friday!

1. I’m going to give the Sally Hansen Salon Manicure another try so look for a second chance post soon! You can read my original review here
2. Mom recently bought two ducks and it turns out that they are an endangered breed of duck called Welsh Harlequins! We are excited and plan on buying two females to be companions for our two drakes!
3. Went swimming with my dog in the lake behind my parent’s house earlier this week! She is a Novia Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, which is hard to find in the United States. We seem to have a thing for rare breeds!
4. My friend is a volunteer for Meal on Wheels and she knits scarves for the recipients of meals every year and hands them out at Christmas time. She asked for my help so I’m committing to help knit about 120 scarves! I love to knit but this is going to be a lot! It will be interesting to see how many I can get done. I have until December though.
5. My boyfriend recently asked me what my ring size was. That is all…

Disappointing Product: Sally Hanson Miracle Gel

I don’t normally wear Sally Hanson. I’m an Essie addict. I had a $2.00 coupon and since the place I work at sells Sally Hanson nail products, I was able to use my 20% discount. That’s the only reason I bought it.  I was curious to try out the product but was sadly disappointed.

First, the product is way overpriced. The original price (at least where I work), is $9.99. I paid $6.00. If the product had lived up to it’s claim, it may have been worth the price.

It claims to last up to fourteen days, like a normal salon gel manicure and you don’t need a light to dry the manicure. I’ve had a salon gel manicure done for a friend’s wedding and honestly, it does not compare.

Second, it was all thick, goopy, and hard to paint on. It would almost clump and leave bare spots on my nails. I had to paint more than a couple of layers on which made it take a long time to try. In fact, I had to sit there for over an hour waiting for it to dry.

It chipped very easily. I know I live on a farm and nail polish tends to chip but I had been at my boyfriend’s all night so I did nothing to make it chip. I went to work (which is retail). I did nothing that would make my nails chip. I just ran the register and changed the sale stickers on the vitamins. Yet, by the end of my short four hour shift, my nails were all chipped up.

The only thing I like about the product is the color, Pretty Piggly. It’s pink though, and I’m sure I can find almost the exact same color from Essie. I will not be purchasing this product again.

Have any of y’all tried Sally Hanson Miracle Gel? What was your experience with this product? If not, what nail polish brand do you like to use?

What to Watch on Netflix (other than Pretty Little Liars and Orange is the New Black)

I love Netflix. I can spend hours on my nights off watching shows up there. I’ve noticed a lot of posts on what to watch on Netflix lately but they all have the same shows listed! I’m not saying there is anything wrong with shows such as Pretty Little Liars. Shows like that are great but I’m disappointed when I click on an article only to find the same shows listed. What are some shows you like to watch that not many people know about? I decided it’s time to dig around Netflix and find some hidden gems!

1. The 100- I love this series! They only have season one on Netflix (you can buy season two on Amazon Instant Video), but it’s a good series. It’s about a bunch of teen prisoners that get sent back to post-apocalyptic Earth to see if it’s habitable again. The twist is that these teens may not be alone.

2. Between- I just started this series but it’s pretty cool. Basically, everyone over twenty two dies of a mysterious disease in a small town. The federal government quarantines the survivors and they are left to fend for themselves.

3. Heartland- This is the series for any horse lover. I used to collect all the books as a teenager. The main character, Amy, is left to take care of her family’s farm after her mother dies. Her grandfather and sister help as much as they can, but can Amy live up to her mother’s reputation and keep Heartland afloat?

4. Hart of Dixie- I haven’t started watching this show yet, but it’s on my list! It’s about a girl who inherits a medical practice in the south and has to adjust to life in the country.

5. Life Unexpected- A teenager in foster care, Lux, finds out who her real parents are and ends up in the middle of a custody battle. This is also another show that is on my to watch list.

Are there any shows that you like to watch? Feel free to share them below!
